Working Group 4

The Working Group 4 is dedicated to the optimisation of Supply Chain Logistics. To approach the topic, the Group utilises pilot projects, exchange of ‘best practices’ and working packages. A summary of them can be found here:

A ‘Best Practices’ list linked to logistics has been created and recently amended to become more user-friendly. The list will become part of the general ‘Best Practices’ platform, which will be available to all FAAS Members.

The pilot project called ‘Duos’, which is another exchange project of ‘best practices’ with one supplier and one distributor, is bearing good results. Therefore, other potential combinations and fields of interest will be explored.

The ‘maturity curve’ model has been studied in an effort to identify the possible connections but also the potential gaps that might render the collaborations more challenging.

The Working package about the ‘Optimisation of last mile logistics’ currently focuses on two streamlines:

  • In an attempt to reduce the CO² footprint of the logistics activities, the workshops’ representatives are being involved with the aim to exchange ideas on the matter.
  • Companies which provide solutions for sustainable logistics & transport are being regularly contacted in order to share tools and apps.

In view of the recent EU regulations regarding packaging, such as the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation), the Working Group is monitoring and following up on the developments.
